How to Install Apps on Your Fire Stick Using Downloader & Codes

If you’re new to using a Fire Stick (or almost any Fire device) and want to unlock its full potential, you’re in the right place! This guide, will show you how to use a simple app called “Downloader” to install other apps – not available in the Amazon App Store. Plus, I’ll share some codes that gives you access to hundreds of apps for free.

Before you can install apps from outside the Amazon App Store, you NEED to enable a setting:

1. From the home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon).
2. Select My Fire TV, then About.
3. With your Fire device’s name highlighted, press the Select button seven times until you see the message “No need, you are already a developer.”
4. Press the back button once, and you’ll see Developer Options. Select it.
5. Choose Install Unknown Apps, find Downloader in the list, and switch it from OFF to ON.

Now, you are ready.

Step 1: Install the Downloader App

1. From your Fire device’s home screen, select Find and click on Search.
2. Type “Downloader” using the onscreen keyboard. You’ll see it appear below — select it.
3. Click on the orange Downloader app icon, then click Get or Download to install it.
4. Once installed, open the app and click Allow when prompted to grant permissions.

Step 2: Use A Code to Unlock More Apps

1. Open the Downloader app, and enter this code: 28907.
2. Click Go, and wait for the page to load.
3. Once loaded, you’ll see a page full of apps you can install on your Fire device. Apps are organized into categories like Movies, Live TV, Sports, and more.

Step 3: Save the Code for Future Use

You can save this page to your favorites, so you don’t have to remember the code every time:

1. Press the options button on your remote, then select Add Current Page to Favorites.
2. Click Save, and now you can easily access it through the Favorites section in Downloader.

Step 4: Install Apps from the Code

Here’s how to install an app from the downloads page:

1. Scroll through the categories to find an app you want. For example, let’s install a web browser called TV Bro.
2. Select the browser, and you’ll be taken to its download page. Scroll down to the Download button and click it.
3. Once the download is complete, click Install.
4. After the app is installed, click Done (NOT Open), and then delete the installation file to save space on your Fire Stick.
