06/01/2025 – Coding The New Band Tracker . . .

Dang man! I am balls deep into the bit of Phase 3 in coding the new band tracker. It’s crazy how in depth you start to get once all the debugging starts. I have been hunched over coding this bad boy all day while pulling a 12 hour shift at the hospital. I’ve actually done that for the past 2 days now that I think about it. I hope to have this deployed within a week or two….three tops (i hope). So Phase 3 – WTF is it? Pretty much have the ‘brand new 1.0’ look like most apps do. So far I have it pulling information from Wikipedia, Musicbrains & Discogs.com – as well as the band’s website (if any). I am starting to code it so that it pulls thumbnails and all when you search for your favorite band. I have also added ‘track’ & ‘untrack’ buttons. Installed a notification system, so that you will be emailed when a band you track releases a single, an album or even appears on a compilation album. This pulls all the information from the web and displays it all right there on your computer (windows only right now). It’s not a totally original idea – but I am releasing this for free and other people charge you for this service. Doesn’t that suck? When an application you love suddenly starts charging you? That’s what happened to me. That’s why I have begun this project. I am going to have it scrape as many music data sites as I can possibly code into this app – all while maintaining a simple straight forward interface. If you love music as much as I do and find it hard to keep up to date with your favorite bands and/or musicians – even underground music – which is pretty much all I listen to. So far I have the very dull name of ‘The Actual Real Music Tracker’. Maybe change that when everything is fully functional, I don’t know. Still no updates on this actual real website. Should have some ‘windows’ information uploaded within the next few days.
